Party Time Tuesday / Victoria Case

Hello out there! Are you staying cozy and warm? We are in Florida for the holidays freezing! I know many of you are freezing with much lower temperatures and I am so sorry. I hope all of you have warm homes and your power is still on....
Did everyone have a fabulous Christmas? We sure did for we saw four of our grandchildren on Christmas morning, which was the greatest gifts of all! Hopefully, we will see the other 6 very soon! I am sitting in McDonald's typing this post for the kids have Smart phones and dropped their Internets! So here I sit, drinking a coke, watching my hubby falling asleep in the chair as I am typing away! LOL He is one of a kind!

This is Party Time Tuesdays last posting for the year 2010! I want to say good bye to the girls who are leaving the DT,  I will dearly miss you and your creations within the teams postings. I will still see you and your super great creations because, I will continue to follow you! Your the best and the best of wishes to you and your new endeavors!  Hugzzzz

Party Time Tuesdays challenge is all about making birthday cards along with a new weekly card challenge! This week challengeis "Any thing goes!" I love ATG for it is really expressing who you are and I love seeing all the different creations! Starting 2011 the PTT DT will be divided into two teams, so be sure to watch the blog for each weeks new challenge. Me, I'll still be making BD cards every week! With 5 children and their spouses, 10 grandchildren, parents and friends I need to stay ahead. My new years resolution will not only to make the birthday cards, but have them mailed in time!!! I am so poor at this. Everyone gets their cards anywhere from 1-3 months after their birthdays....sad, very, very sad and one of my biggest down-faults.

My card is made with a Victoria Case digital! Victoria Case is  one of my most favorite artists. Her creations are gorgeous and with fine details. Her designs include characters, animals and whimsical creations which makes you smile big time!

Is this not the cutest angel you ever did see? She reminds me so much of my granddaughter, Olivia and I had so much fun bringing her to life with my Copics!

Challenges:
If I don't get on again until after the new year ....I am wishing each and everyone of you to have a joyous, prosperous, healthy, calm new year!!! God bless and I truly thank you for taking your time to visit me. I cherish each of you and so thankful I have you in my life!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Is there something you would like to see or have done. All suggestions are welcome!!!

Party Time Tuesday Color Challenge

Hello blog land! Today's the day I have been waiting forever for! We leave for Florida in about 12 more hours and I am so excited! The only hard part is what to pack! Even the boys, Simba and Baily have their own suitcase and they know when it comes out they are going on a road trip!

I want to tell you about my surprise yesterday from a very dear friend, Lisa Haines, The Purple Place,  She sent me a gift certificate from SCACD  for Christmas!!  Her words in the email  had me in tears for they were so beautiful and from her heart! She knows I love to shop at SCACD and I can't wait until we get home to place my order! Thank you from my  heart Lisa...you are a very true friend and I have enjoyed our friendship this passed year. Don't you find it amazing you can become close to a person you never met online. Lisa and I have spoken many times via phone and this spring I am going up to Maine to meet her! It will be an awesome trip!

It's Party Time Tuesday which means a birthday challenge blog! Each week you make a card with birthday wording on the front of the card, along with the challenge of the week! Easy Peasy and it keeps those birthday cards in stock! This weeks challenge is red, white and green!

My image is a digital from  Karen Doodles under the mens cards.  Karen has oodles of super cute images and I have used quite a few of them in the past. Right now until Dec. 26 she is having a 25 Percent off sale on everything in the store including her rubber stamps. Use the code KDAN324. Stop by you will love her cute and adorable images!

I made this birthday card for my SIL b/c he so loves fishing. He loves fishing so much my youngest grandchild middle name is "Fisher" Yep, you read that right! Andrew Fisher Marburger. It's an odd way to name a child, but I really do like it!  In addition they have Abbie, my granddaughter. Abbie and Andrew love to go fishing and one day the largest fish caught was by Abbie!! So I thought this image was perfect!

In order to be eligible for Party Time Tuesday's Top 3 and monthly random prize drawing you need to upload your BIRTHDAY card (sentiment on the front) based on the colors red, white and green via inlinkz on PTT.
TIP OF THE DAY:   I have been asked several times how do I do my skies. Easy peasy with chalk. I rub a Q-tip with chalk and color the sky. Takes one minute!

Have a wonderful Holiday Season and don't forget to leave some love for my DT!! Thank you for stopping by!

Quick 15 minute card!

Happy Sunday!! It is a fantastic day today!! I became really sleepy last night around 10 PM and slept very soundly until 7 AM. I feel great and happy and ready to take on this house with some very needy cleaning!

I was so excited to do this tutorial until I saw how the pictures on my cards looks.  I cannot catch the richness the gold embossing has done and how elegant the cards really are. Since they were commissioned cards I can't rephotograph for they were delivered on Friday. So take my word for it...they are really elegant and simple to make.

Challenges:

My image is a rubber stamp from I believe Hero Arts. The red border says "Joy" and has a snow flake. Dang I hate these pictures! Bare with me...

Seeing them here on the blog...I was thinking "I'm not going to do this" hopefully, you will be able to use your imagination and see just how  pretty they are!!! LMBO

You will need:

  • Ivory Card stock 8 1/2 by 5 1/2
  • Red Card stock 5 3/8 x 4 1/8
  • Ivory Card stock 5 1/8 x 4
  • 4 x 4 red card stock
  • 4 x 4  ivory cardtock
  • Two Nesties 1/8 difference in size
  • Embossing pad
  • Gold embossing powder
  • heat gun
  • Cuttlebug Candy Cane embossing folder
  • tape or glue
You want to wipe your 4 x 4 cardstock with an Anti-static pad or a used tumble dryer sheet
This will prevent the embossing powder sticking to the card stock where it is not stamped.
Stamp your image on the the 4 x 4 ivory card stock

Sprinkle the embossing powder over the area you stamped and heat with heat gun until you see the embossing powder melt and become raised and shiny.
Cut out your image with a Nestability Circle die large enough to encompass your image. Cut the 4 x 4 red card stock with a 1/8 - 1/3 larger Nestability Circle die.  Your Nestability die size will depend on the size of your image.
  • Dry emboss your ivory 5 1/8 x 4 card stock with the Cuttlebug Candy Cane folder.
  • Fold 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Ivory card stock in half and press the edge with a bone folder on both sides.
  • Layer 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 red card stock and the embossed 5 1/8 x 4 Ivory card stock.  I placed a piece of red wire ribbon across the card and secured it between the red and ivory card stock before I adhere them to one another (duh, Like you didn't know that!)
Add your circles and other em-bellies and presto...15 minute elegant card.  Trust me ...It is very elegant ans so wish I could take another photo to show you!

Have a very happy, get her done day! Last weekend before Christmas.....oh my!!

Teddy-Stampers

Hello out there!  This 21 degree weather has got to go and what about the south getting snow and ice...eeeks! We accumulated about 2 inches last night and it's more icy then anything. Come on sunshine! 4 More days and Florida here we come!

I just completed a 48 hour Copic coloring card making marathon. I have been up for 50 hours except for 2 hours last night and completed 36 cards for several orders I received.  It has not hit me yet but, I know when it does I am going to be wasted for 2 -3 days. Sounds like a drunken binge don't it. That what my body will feel like for sure! The hardest part was trying to design them all differently.  I have all these punches and gadgets and what knots to make all my cards look different from one another. I think I used two! I will never do this again and I still have to make our cards. I am so tempted to call hubby and tell him to stop after work and buy me a box of Christmas cards! Think he will mind with two room full of card making supplies? LMBO but not really funny!

If you love teddy bears ...you will love Teddy Bear Stampers! Every other week we have a challenge for you, but you must have a teddy bear somewhere on your card! I adore and love teddy bears! I have given many away and still no matter what room you go to in my home....you will be greeted with at least  two teddy bears. You have a choice this week by either using the colors red, white and green. Or you can do a sketch. I chose to do the red, white and green. And, stop by the blog to see who is now on the Teddy Stamper Design Team and leave some love for them!

Again, I have no clue who designed this adorable image. I bought it when I didn't think to make a note who's images were who's.  Now I have folders with the web address for my images. It made life a whole lot easier.

TIP OF THE DAY:  Copic Coloring. I just love this image with two teddy bears looking in the store window wishing and dreaming what they might get for Christmas! Too dang cute! Notice the brick in the image. Doesn't it look like real brick? This is only one technique Suzanne Dean teaches in her Online Copic classes, Color Me Creative Classroom!  Here is a picture of a card I made last year before I knew how to color brick. Do you see the difference? The one above is so much more realistic looking! I'm telling you she is the Queen of Copic's. Suzanne's online Copic classes are in four parts from beginning to advance and right now she is having a holiday special with HUGE discounts. So give yourself an early Christmas gift!  Each topic has a video to watch Suzanne doing the coloring/techniques herself.  And, for each video you will also receive  a PDF,  you able to download to your computer.  If you would like to see her work before checking out the classes...this is Suzanne's personal blog, Scrapbitz.  You will be amaze!

I will be back later to list my supplies. Right now I need to get some much needed sleep! Hugz to all and thank you kindly for stopping by. You are really great...it's nice knowing I am not talking to myself!!!

December's Party Time Tuesday

Hello out there!! How is everyone today? How about this horrible weather ...I am so not ready for winter and only hope it goes by as fast as summer did! Let me tell ya, I blinked and summer was like gone! Eleven days til X-mas! 96 days until the first day of spring in the states!!! Trust me I am counting them!

I would like to take this time to thank everyone for the wonderful support you have shown me on my blog. Either by comments or following and I so appreciate it. You all rock! Blog land is an awesome way to meet really super, talented and caring people. Thank you! You have touched my life and I hope I have given  you something in return!

It's Party Time Tuesday which means a birthday challenge blog! Each week you make a card with birthday wording on the front of the card, along with the challenge of the week! Easy Peasy and it keeps those birthday cards in stock! This weeks challenge is a sketch to follow...which I have below.

This adorable image is "Letters to Santa" by Elisabeth Bell. I love this image and decided to have her mailing a birthday card instead for the challenge. Isn't she a baby doll with her big fluffy hat and coat on? I think she is adorable! Look at the mouse with the umbrella...how cute is that! Don't forget to visit my team mates to see their great inspirations! Their blogs are listed in my side board!

Challenges:

 The sketch:

Copics:
  • Blue: B66, B63 B60
  • Skin: E01, E00, E000
  • Hair: E31, E35, YR20
  • Mailbox: C05, C03, C01
  • Red: R29, R27, R24, R22
  • Green: G02, G00, G000
Tip of the Day: Cuttlebug.  I was taught when I used the die cuts in my Cuttlebug to do it in this order.
  • Base
  • B plate
  • Nestie or die
  • C plate
I have done it this way since day one. However, I am the only person, you will probably meet that blew their Cuttlebug to pieces.. I mean it didn't just break...it shattered with pieces flying everywhere and made a noise like a sonic boom. It scared the poo out of me and my boys.   Simba ran out of the room so fast, I only saw a white blur and Bailey  tried to get under the bed and when there was no room he jump on the bed and hid his head under the pillow! NO LIE! Luckily the shards didn't hit anyone.   I honestly forget what I was trying to accomplish, but the directions called to add a piece of cardboard and I was forcing it through! It worked for the lady on Youtube!!  Any how,  I bought a new Cuttlebug and didn't want to mess my new plates with marks. So I did the following
  • Base
  • C plate
  • Die Cut
  • B plate
My plates are no longer bowing after I cut. The B plates stay looking like brand new and I love it!  Does anyone else plates bow? If so try this ...it worked for me.

Happy Days! Hugzzzzzzzz

Flutter by Wednesday and Sara K

No, I didn't go anywhere except to the world of confusion! This is my blog and I know I can say what ever I would like to say. But, I don't like when people name names and bad mouth them. However, this has been one of those weeks that you just say "wow" how did that happened? I belonged to a network that was really starting to bloom, however I think the owner was bi-polar or manic for she would dystroy everything she worked so hard to build  with just a few words. She is also really heavy finger on the "banned" button ....so it was time for me to say good-bye! I just don't understand why people do what they do sometimes. I think we should all stop and think before we act, esp. when there are other's involved. All the great freinds banned together and if you would like to join, please zip me off an email or post here and I will get the invite to you immediately.

Happy Holidays!! Are you ready for a jolly, holly Christmas? I'm excited! We are going on a road trip to see the kids who live in Florida for the holidays!! We didn't want to leave our dogs alone for Christmas so we're taking them with us! It will be awesome for all the grandchildren just love Simba and Bailey and they surely love kids!! Monday they are getting groomed and will look so pretty.... oppps handsome!! Their pictures are on my side bar!

Today was the first time I have made a card for Flutter-by Wednesdays in a real long time and I love their challenges! My image is Sweet Lili by Sarah K and you can purchase her at 7 Kids College Fund. Isn't she just the sweetest little girl kissing her teddy bear! Yeppers, one of my favorties!

I chose to do a tutorial on melting a digital colored image onto a candle.

Easy Peasy!

Supplies: Tissue paper, wax paper, digital or stamp image, Copic or other coloring medium, heat gun, card stock and glue stick. (glue stick and card stock only if you are using a digital image)

Glue corners of tissue paper onto card stock to print the digital image.

This is what your digital image looks like on the tissue paper
Photo is kinda bright wouldn't you say! The photo's were taken at night ....sorry

Colored your image with your favorite medium. I used Copics. You are unable to blend like you do on regular paper, however, as you can see you still get great variations. Place something under the tissue paper to catch the ink for it goes through the tissue paper quite easily.

This is a picture to show you how much ink went through the tissue paper.

Cut out your image as close to the lines,  it is okay if there is some tissue left surrounding the image.

Spit on the image!!! LOL I wet the tip of my finger and slightly moisten a few corners to help the tissue paper stick to the candle. You do not want to wet the black lines wet for they will bleed.

Wrap your wax paper around the candle making a handle in the back to hold onto tightly. This will keep a tight seal around the image. Make sure there are no wrinkles or air pockets.  You can also secure it with rubber bands. Tidbit: Rubber Bands in Pittsburgh are called "gum bands!"

Use a heat gun to heat the wax paper. What will happen is the heat gun will melt the wax coating on the wax paper and seals your image. You want to keep moving the heat gun so you do not melt the candle. Don't put it as close as I have in the picture or it will melt for sure!. Heat until you see everything turn shiny. This will take several minutes to do.

The final results. Large candle 1.50...everything else I had.

Don't forget to leave a comment to be eligible for the drawing and you will have two chances if you become a follower or are a follower. Susanna from Susanna  Custom Arts and Cards Design is helping to sponsor my blog on the hop. The lucky winner will win a $15.00 Gift Certificate for SCACD

You want to make sure you comment on all of the DT's blogs. The next blog you should go to is Amy's. If you were here first you want to go to the beginning of the hop and start at SSC  or go straight to Maureen's blog.

GOOD LUCK!!!

DT Teddy- Stampers Challenge

Hello there! Are you hopping around going nuts in the malls or are you  like me and shop in your PJ's at home?  What's on your Christmas wish list this year? Me, I don't want much...just a  new craft room!! I have all my supplies in the spare bedroom and it is getting mighty crowded in there! I don't even have any space left under the bed. KWIM!

It's Friday wahooo! Every other Friday is Teddy-Stampers challenge! This week we are being sponsored by Elisabeth Bell! How awesome is that?  I was on Elisabeth's GDT and it was awesome,  who cannot love her adorable images! The random winner will win the beautiful digi I used in  my card today! Is she not sweet? I did a card similar to this one when I was on the DT, it was done in a hurry due to family matters and I hated it then and I hated now, so I tore it apart and did the whole thing over!! I love it. I did switch directions of the posing, because I like my images facing the right for some unknown reason! That is one of the beauties of digital images. Also,  I made a 3D tree instead of using the one in the digi. So come and join the fun and possible win this awesome digi created by the talented Elisabeth Bell!

Isn't it beautiful! I love it and my parents will receive it next week!!

The top of the card is 3 layers, 4 counting the scallop. I cut the DP and green card stock at the same time with my circle Nestability so they would line up exactly. I took a sheet of white card stock and dry embossed it and then slightly went over the top of it with a green ink pad to make it look like wall paper. I made the scallop by placing the the circle die with a larger scallop die on the green card stock and ran it through my Cuttle Bug at the same time. If you look closely you will see it is thicker on the left side and below the packages it is even thinner, but I was able to make it work!  I used think foam to separate the circle from the dry embossed cardstock. I really love the way it turned out. It is so much prettier in person!

Challenges:

Happy December 1st!

Hello Friends! I cannot believe I am writing December 1!! Wow, in a month it will all be over with....so sad! We are going to Florida this year to spend some awesome time with the kids who live there. We have kids all over the states from Nevada, Eastern PA, Western PA and Florida. My parents are in Arizona...sure would be nice if we were all in one place. But, I always look forward to the time we get to share with all of them....well, most of the time! KWIM!!

Today I have two Christmas Cards I made and I am really happy with both of them! The first one is with an image by Digi Doodle Shop called Santa's arrival. The second I saw this digi I knew I had to color it! If you want to see beautiful, fun, loving...huge variety of images you need to go for they are awesome! Right now all of Digi Doodles Christmas images are 50 percent off!! Yes, 50 %  RUN! You surely will not be disappointed! I will be doing several cards with her images over the next few days and you will see why I love them so!

My second card is made with a red rubber stamp by Stampabilities called Winters Wish! I forgot how much I love doing scenery! I love the way it turned out...much better than last years!

Challenges  Why so many? Because I want everyone to see our Blog Hop at SSC and all the info is at the bottom of my posting!! Trust me this was very, very time consuming to enter this many challenges, so please come and hop with us!

TIP OF THE DAY! Adding Ribbon to your card. When you are adding thick ribbon or any ribbon to your card, it is too hard to try and wrap it around the card and tie the bow. What I do...place the ribbon on the outside of the card stock and only tuck the ends in with Scor-tape.  Tie a piece of string around your ribbon to pull it slightly taunt as in the picture.

Make the bow using Bow Easy and directions on how to use Bow Easy by Suzanne Dean are here!

Cut the excess string off. Attache your bow using Scor-tape to where you pulled the ribbon a little bit taunt and you will have the appearance your ribbon and bow are one piece of ribbon!  See Picture below: Easy Peasy.

And this is what I don't want you to miss!!!
I will have a great tutorial for you and and to a random winner a $15.00 gift certificate to Susana's Custom Art and Card Design!!  You could buy two Bow Easy's! You have to come to SSC's, Simply Scrapping Crafts for there will be lots of prizes, tutorials and fun!! Wait until you see what the rest of the DT's has plan for you! Don't forget December 4th.
